Job Description STEAM - Activity Leader SUPERVISOR: STEAM Center Manager DEPARTMENT: Program FLSA STATUS: Part-Time/Seasonal LAST UPDATED: 01/26/23 LEADERSHIP SUMMARY The Activity Leader will infuse and model the Girl Scout Law into their everyday work to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. POSITION SUMMARY The STEAM Activity Leader assists the STEAM Center Manager with events for girls ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade. Responsible for setting up and taking down event materials and helping to ensure the successful running of events. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Collaborate and communicate with STEAM Center Manager, interns, and property technician on event needs Lead activities including but not limited to 3D printers, spheros, arts & crafts, microscopes, etc. Support with planning and preparing STEAM programming Maintain equipment during events Maintain STEAM center inventory Follows program rules and policies Maintains a positive attitude and professionalism with girls, parents, volunteers, and staff Complete annual professional development In keeping with our commitment to the Girl Scouts' Law and Promise, our council emphasizes teamwork, investment in the organization's success, and commitment to each other. There are times throughout our year when the work of other departments becomes heavy and/or critically timely. Examples may include but are not limited to-membership recruitment/renewal campaigns and efforts, product program logistics and support to include cookie cupboards and volunteer assistance, volunteer appreciation and engagement, retail inventory and delivery (among regional offices), program signature event participation, and support, and property maintenance/improvement as requested. KNOWLEDGE AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Required Experience working with youth Valid driver's license and safe driving record Ability to pass a background check Preferred Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience First Aid and CPR certification Experience with STEM technology (3D printer, coding software, etc.) ABILITY AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS Membership with GSUSA and subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement Strong human relations skills and ability to work well with others of diverse cultures Ability to exercise good judgment Ability to follow directions and demonstrate task completion Excellent written and oral communication skills Solution-driven with the ability to effectively problem solve Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods Ability to work outdoors periodically SCHEDULE AND LODGING Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings Set up on Friday, approximately 3 hours prior to event day Saturday events, approximately 6 hours, including event and breakdown The STEAM Center hosts 12-15 events annually SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITIES Staff: NONE Committee(s): NONE The above job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee.
