Function: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner has the primary responsibility of providing medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services to clients in all programs at RE and Re-group. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will evaluate and assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of psychotropic medications to assist the client in their mental health treatment, as well as provide psychoeducation regarding prescribed medications, develop and implement treatment plans, and collaborate with the client’s treatment teams and service providers. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for completing and approving Medicaid billable services in Credible that reflect the service being provided to clients. Organizational duties & responsibilities: The primary responsibility of all staff is to ensure the safety and well-being of all Ramey-Estep/Re-group (RE) clients. Supports the mission, vision, and values of RE. Facilitates and adheres to the agency’s code of ethics, policies, and procedures. Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies. Supports and facilitates positive interaction with clients and staff by exhibiting both in-office and in-public when carrying out job duties: individual maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences in clients and staff. Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems. Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain competency. Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of RE. Reports incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving clients to the appropriate authorities and RE. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides medication management and MAT services to clients in all programs at RE and Re-group. Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions. Assess and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of psychotropic medications to assist the client in their mental health treatment. Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by state regulations and collaborative practice agreements. Provides psychoeducation to client and parent/guardian (if applicable) regarding prescribed medications. Including, but not limited to, the purpose of the medication, possible side effect(s) of medication, and other pertinent information. Develops and implement treatment plans. Participate in activities aimed at professional growth and development including conferences or continuing education activities. Interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs) and renal functioning tests. Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered. Refer patients requiring more specialized or complex treatment to psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or other medical specialists. Collaborates with the client’s treatment team and/or service provides to ensure the efficacy of the course of treatment. Promotes a positive view of RE and Re-group to the public and outside agencies. Maintains current documentation, treatment reports, and other written documentation and correspondence according to agency policy and within appropriate time frames. Maintains current licensure and stays within ethical guidelines provided by your licensure board. Participates in supervision and consultation on a regular basis. Collaborates effectively with other assigned RE/Re-group services and community partners. Assists in crisis intervention efforts to maintain the safety of the children and use crisis as an opportunity for growth. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in schedules and work environment. Provides consistent, quality treatment to all clients. Ensures all necessary records are maintained and kept confidential. Is available after hours for staff to consult with if client is experiencing negative side effects. Performs other duties as assigned. Working conditions/environment: Shift is generally Monday – Friday but hours will vary based on the needs of the client. Holidays, weekends, and overtime may be required. Meals are provided for staff when on campus. Intense, unpredictable population with the possibility of verbal and physical aggression. Fast-paced environment with the need for quick decisions to deal with any crisis that may arise. Traveling throughout the week to meet with clients and families at different locations (Ashland, Rush and Grayson). Use of board-approved electronic programs to facilitate telehealth services. Maintains a positive, professional attitude contributing to a supportive work environment. minimum job requirements: Education: A Master’s Degree in Nursing and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification through American Nursing Credential Center is required. Experience: Experience in providing medication management for children and adults and MAT. Specific Skills and requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Technical requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any other applications used by the organization or regulatory agencies. Valid Driver’s License and insurability. Ability to understand and relate to the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds. Ability to read, write and converse in English. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. Successful completion of a background screening. Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation. Specialized Licenses or training: Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification through American Nursing Credential Center. Maintains 40 hours of Annual Training through Relias or other appropriate sources. Maintains at least minimum training for licensure. Attends all assigned training specific to job assignment.
