JOB SUMMARY: The IT Security Engineer at MAHEC will collaborate with leadership on our security posture, review and recommend policy changes and ensure that the organization maintains HIPAA and other security postures. The IT Security Engineer evaluates, recommends, and implements security applications and systems to ensure the ability to effectively monitor the security and stability of the organizations operations as it relates to technology. This includes collaborating with other team members on the design, configuration and support for all devices on the network to ensure a robust secure environment for all MAHEC assets. The person in this role will manage security testing, monitoring, internal social engineering campaigns, and security education for all MAHEC staff. Additionally, the person in this role will work with IT management on the planning and implementing of short and long-term strategic plans to meet current and future requirements. This work would include development and testing of processes to respond to and recover from a security breach. The IT Security Engineer will use software that detects intrusions and anomalous system behavior to lead incident response, including steps to minimize the impact, work with partners when needed to conduct a technical and forensic investigation, and report to leadership on the outcomes. Finally, the person in this role will maintain awareness of changes in the security threat ecosystem and ensure all IT staff and others are aware as needed to ensure vigilance. Finally, the ability to apply the depth of knowledge maintained and gained through this process in real life scenarios as appropriate. SPECIFIED SKILLS: Demonstrated Security Skills In: Knowledge about security techniques, firewalls, VPN, DNS, and other security systems HIPAA policies and requirements Security evaluation procedures Knowledge of cloud and on-premise security Internal security audits Ethical hacking and penetration testing Familiarity with cryptography and encryption Browser and website security Identification for authenticity Familiar with security best practices to maintain data integrity and policy compliance Experience managing security information and events (SIEM) Environment Experience in a Microsoft environment working with Windows servers in virtualized environments and Azure cloud services Security systems patching of servers and network devices Understand virtualization (cloud and on premises) Security Training Demonstrated experience providing training and support related to security procedures for the organization Experience collaborating with other team members to develop online and in-person training for staff EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in an IT related field, or recognized Security Certification plus 2-3 years' experience or an equivalent combination of the two PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in an IT related field plus 10 years' experience plus IT related industry standard certifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA Experience in a healthcare setting highly desirable Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively using resources appropriate to the issues that need addressed. Proven ability to communicate clearly verbally, and in writing to technical and non-technical staff Project management experience to ensure timely and effective completion of key tasks including coordinating with external partners as needed PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job is typically sedentary, but applicant should be able to lift 50 lbs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None REQUIRED LICENSES: None SCHEDULE: Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per work week; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required.
