This network also connects our ever-growing Google Cloud customers and their employees and users, and underpins our machine learning (ML) infrastructure connectivity.In this role, you will develop networking technology and solve tough problems for our Google Cloud customers and internal product areas such as YouTube. You will enhance network product excellence by improving its performance, reliability, simplicity, and scalability. You will help a large organization of passionate networkers deliver networking solutions that are critical for the growth of Google Cloud, Google services, and Googler productivity.Additionally, you will be a passionate networking leader, and will shape our network edge and routing platforms and drive execution for technologically sophisticated networks. The Edge and Networking Platform team consist of Googlers who are highly skilled in networking, routing technologies and vendor engagement, software systems, production systems at scale and automation.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant field, or equivalent practical experience 15 years of industry experience, with 5 years of technical management experience of software developers and technical leaders and architects. 15 years of experience in development or operation of routing platforms, or Optical technologies (e.g., equipment vendors, enterprises, telecom carriers, cloud operators, or hyperscalers) Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering Direct networking operational experience at a cloud provider/hyperscale service provider Experience in distributed computing infrastructure Experience using agile methodologies and tooling A passion for technology and technical depth to uncover root causes of complex technical problems and provide guidance on solving them Responsibilities Provide execution leadership on projects (e.g., resourcing, prioritization, partner team interlock, and scoping). Lead vendor relationship including prioritization of the vendor features, and vendor roadmaps and delivery, and escalations. Drive Optical Networking Technology roadmap and solutions including line systems, terminal and client optics, and submarine cable. Be responsible for the IP routing platform roadmap and strategy that includes hardware and associated software (e.g., configuration and telemetry, silicon roadmaps, and functional test). Contribute to Global Network Technology's (GNT) shared mission as part of the GNT leadership team and work collectively to deliver GNT's objectives and objectives and key results (OKRs).
