The ideal candidate will possess expertise in various legal areas related to public agency procurement, public works, real property transactions, general agency law, and pre-litigation dispute resolution.Duties:Conduct legal research and analysis on matters related to public agency procurement, public works, real property transactions, and general agency law.Assist in contract preparation, revisions, and negotiation ensuring legal compliance and risk management.Evaluate and resolve pre-litigation disputes, including government claims procedures.Communicate effectively with clients through various forms of telecommunication, conveying professionalism and competence in legal and strategic practical issues.Take ownership of assigned matters, develop actionable plans, and execute under professional oversight.Engage in ongoing professional training and mentorship to enhance skills and knowledge.Requirements:3-5 years of relevant experience in legal practice.Strong understanding of public agency procurement and contracting, public contract law, bidding processes, and requests for proposals.Proficiency in public works, including bid protests, prompt payment, stop payment notices, false claims, suretyship, and prevailing wage law.Knowledge of real property transactions, including due diligence, entitlements, and public agency compliance issues.Familiarity with general agency law, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the Public Records Act, and conflict of interest law.Excellent research and writing skills.Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism and competence.Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.Strong self-awareness of strengths and limitations, with a desire for ongoing professional development.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the California State Bar (active and in good standing).Additional certifications or specialized training in relevant legal areas are a plus.Skills:Legal research and analysis.Contract drafting, negotiation, and review.Pre-litigation dispute resolution.Communication and interpersonal skills.Time management and organizational skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
